I’m delighted to be speaking with Cinde Dolphin, a four-time cancer survivor, winner of the patient of courage award 2023, who has invented and now distributes a mesh apron that increases patient mobility and accelerates recovery time. As previously mentioned, Cinde is a four-time cancer survivor, including three different breast cancer diagnoses. She talks us through how her post-op journey led her to invent the apron as she was left with four JP drains. And though the nursing staff provided safety pins to manage the drains, she chose to wear a restaurant server’s apron.

The attending medical team pronounced the apron a much better system, allowing them easy access to drains during the first critical days. They strongly encouraged her to develop a similar system for other patients. That same team is now actively advocating the use of KILI Carriers for their post-surgical cases. Now Cinde has taken her post-cancer journey to countries in Africa and built small businesses for women in micro-loan cooperatives. What do you think of this simple solution for JP drains?
