The woman pioneering to bring empathy and real human connections to the financial services sector is Allegra Patrizi, who is on a mission to help build the best digital and most loved bank. Allegra has worked in the financial services sector for over thirty years, holding senior roles at major international organisations and as a consultant before that. Before joining Virgin Money, Allegra was the CEO of Aegon in the Netherlands, the first-ever woman to do so, and a member of the Aegon Group Management Board. Before that she held senior positions at Prudential and in asset management, and she was the youngest ever partner of McKinsey. Watch until the end as she discusses everything from her career journey in the financial sector to her proudest achievements and plans for the future. She shares insights on her leadership style CARE, DARE, SHARE and her vision of the financial services industry, emphasizing empathy, care, and vulnerability in leadership, and trying to combine it with being a mother and a well-rounded person. She encourages young women to embrace their unique identity and values and highlights the importance of prioritizing customers, colleagues, and shareholders while remaining true to oneself. Allegra also shared tips on navigating life’s challenges with balance, resilience, and positivity, and discussed her biggest challenges, including limiting beliefs about oneself – after all, at only 17 she overcame the challenge of becoming a fully-fledged aeroplane pilot.
