I’m delighted to be speaking to Rachel Verghis about female entrepreneurship and gin in today’s episode. Rachel began her career as a banker, working in the industry for over 15 years. Her impressive career includes founding VerghisArt in 2002, a platform mainly focusing on artists from the Asia-Pacific region and MarGin!
As a gin-sipping enthusiast and as an ex-banker with an interest in the history of English finance, she discovered the “White Fiver”, the five-pound note first issued by the Bank of England in 1793. Fittingly the birth of this iconic banknote coincided with the development of the elegant and highly refined style of spirit that came to be known as London Dry Gin.
Inspired, Rachel set about crafting an artisanal gin that captured the weight and heritage of this history, a memento mori to this note. From there MarGin was born. Have you had the pleasure of sipping on MarGin?
